Sunday Paper Done!

A finish!
It's about time!
Back in Feb. 2012, I never thought it would take this long to finish this quilt. These past few months, many times I wished I had heard my friends' suggestions of machine quilting it. It was difficult to see where my stitches were headed at times with all busy prints but now that it's all done, I am glad I hand quilted it.

Got little carried away with pictures today too.

They match with my quilt books.

I just quilted in the ditch around the hexagons. In certain light they look embossed.

This was a fun quilt to make. I definitely will consider making another version in future.

Today's forecast was for the first snow of the season and it arrived as promised with wind blowing it everywhere. Well, it was more like flurries! It was gone before I could say, "First snow of the season"
so no snow in the picture but it's stitched in this quilt for sure :0

Glad it's done and near the couch.. I will be using it while going through my books for inspirations for next quilt.

  20. This is such a beautiful and wonderful quilt!! Hand quilting would have given you the time to enjoy all the wonderful fabrics you've used and it really does give the hexagons the embossed look. I love your photos too. A photo shoot is such a great way to celebrate the finish of a quilt.

    1. Hi Caroline,
Yes, I did post it to Celebrate Hand Quilting. Thanks for your comment. By the way, I found out through my friend Barb that phone book paper tears easier than newspaper. Do you have any old one around? I save mine for these projects.

  26. I LOVE this! How big is the quilt - I can't figure out a good size for the side of the diamond - I made one that was HUGE, and the next one looks on the small side - I want the goldilocks version!! :)

    1. Hilary,
Wow! You made two of these already? I am amazed! I used Fons and Porter's 60 degree diamond ruler for this quilt. Worked out perfectly for this size. This quilt measures Approx. 62'' x 72''.

    2. Good gracious no - I haven't made two QUILTS - just two test hexagon units! LOL. I was wondering what is the length of the side of the diamond you used? I have a generic 60 degree diamond ruler, and the biggest size is about 8 and a half inches and the finished hexagon using that size seemed enormous - it is much harder to work out the finished size of a quilt with hexagons because of the way they are laid out - at least it is for the mathematically challenged like me! :)
